Stone Canyon Lodges and Park Models LLC made good on its promise to provide living quarters for victims of the April 27 tornado that struck Alabama.
A finished park model was recently presented to Chris and Emily Guin in Hackleburg, Ala.
The Haleyville, Ala.-based manufacturer built and donated the new park model to the Guins, whose home in Hackleburg was wiped out by the tornado.
The Guins have already moved into their new home. ”They were tickled to death. They are an extremely nice young couple,” said Phyllis Watts, Stone Canyon president.
The finished unit would sell for upward of $22,000 if sold at retail.
Relief agencies picked a small family for the Stone Canyon project because of the size of the unit — it’s just 400 square feet. The unit is equipped with a porch, stackable washer and dryer, a fireplace and air conditioning.
The company is currently building a second park model for another storm victim family.
Stone Canyon employees donated their time to build the relief unit and suppliers donated most of the furnishings.
