After serving as executive director of 10 associations over a period of 40 years, John Westenberger is retiring and will be turning over the daily reins of the Tennessee Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (TNARVC) to Suzanne Mark, a former college professor and a 20-year industry veteran.

Mark first specialized in the camping industry as the corporate coordinator of recreation and recruitment for Outdoor World, a chain of 15 membership parks then owned by the Rank Organization and now part of the Equity Lifestyles network. A contributor to Woodall’s Campground Management and other trade journals, Mark is a former education director for the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC) who also worked in recent years as vice president of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA).

The TNARVC board planned to welcome Mark and toast Westenberger, who had served as a vice chairman and board member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and has been named State Executive of the Year by both the Tennessee and Georgia associations of executive directors, at a Jan. 7 dinner in Crossville, Tenn.
