Jerry W. Britton, a longtime RV and manufactured housing financier, died Monday (March 28), while exercising at a health club in Naples, Fla. He was 60.

Britton was president of the Distribution Finance Group at Textron Financial Corp. (TFC). He joined the company in 2000 and was a member of the TFC Executive Committee.

Prior to joining TFC, Britton was with Green Tree Financial Corp. as president of its commercial lending business. He also spent 17 years with ITT Commercial Finance where his last position was president of their Eastern U.S. and European operations.

He attended Memphis State University and also completed TXT Six Sigma Green Belt training.

A 2007 inductee into the RV/MH Hall of Fame, Britton was active in the financing of RV and manufactured housing dealers for over 30 years. At the time of his induction Textron provided floorplan financing for over 800 dealers and annually financed over $1 billion in industry products as the largest wholesale lender to the manufactured housing industry.

He retired Dec. 31, 2010.

Britton was born Aug. 15, 1950 in Sardis, Tenn., and lived mostly in Memphis and Atlanta.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Britton; his children: Grant Britton (Laura), Katie Burkhardt (Will) an Shelley Smith; three grandchildren; and his parents: Max and Vernell Britton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Memphis, Tribute Fund #10389618.

The memorial service and celebration of his life will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, Alpharetta, Ga., followed by a fellowship gathering at the church.
