Forest River’s XLR division announced its partnership with world-class athlete and Super Bike racer Tom Sykes from Huddersfield, England.
Sykes, of Team Kawasaki, has climbed the World Super Bike Series ranks worldwide and currently occupies second place – finishing a half point behind the 2012 overall championship winner. According to a press release, this is the closest finish the sport has seen in its 25-year history.
Although most of Sykes’ events take place in Europe, there’s a huge fan base in the United States who enjoy active lifestyles and follow this extreme sport. XLR said it has targeted its products for that demographic.
“This is the perfect relationship between an extreme sports athlete, and a cross-over RV brand designed specifically to appeal to outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy an active lifestyle during the day, but want comfort, style and luxury when it’s time to relax,” said XLR National Sales Manager Brent Stevens.
During the U.S. leg of the tour, Sykes plans a visit to the XLR plant in Goshen, Ind.. Autographed photos of Sykes and his bike will be available
Sykes discovered the XLR Thunderbolt 386X12HP while searching for a trackside vehicle to enjoy during European events. According to XLR, he was impressed with the Thunderbolt’s bold style, versatile living spaces, distinctive décor and exterior appeal.
He selected the “Rock Star Red” full-body paint scheme and “Absolute Carbon” interior decor. Added convenience options include the Level Up 6-Point Leveling System, VIP Party Deck with an awning, and an 8-function wireless remote that operates the slides, awning and lights.
