SSI: Towable Sales Up 5.3% for July, 7.2% YTD

                                                                                                                                               Retail towable sales posted a 5.3% gain in July and showed a 7.2% increase for the first seven months.

According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc., results showed:

• Sales for the high-volume travel trailer sector grew 7.1% for the month and 9.6% year-to-date.

• Fifth-wheel registrations edged up 3% in July and 2.9% for the seven months.

• Folding camping trailer sales were down 4.4% for the month and 4.4% through July.

• Recreational park trailer sales fell 23.7% in July and 7.5% for the seven months.

Forest River Inc. was the towable sales leader through July with a 36.8% market share, edging out Thor Industries Inc. which captured a 36.5% share. Jayco Inc. was No. 3 with a 12.9% share.

By segment, Forest River was No. 1 in travel trailer sales for the seven months with a 37.4% market share, ahead of Thor (34.3%) and Jayco (14.3%). Thor was No. 1 in fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 49.5% market share, followed by Forest River (31.1%) and Jayco (8.7%).

Forest River was the folding camping trailer sales leader year-to-date with a 64.9% market share while Jayco (14.2%) held the No. 2 position followed by Columbia Northwest/Aliner Inc. (10.4%). In the park model segment, Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. was No. 1 with a 15.3% share, followed by Skyline Corp. (12.4%) and Thor (11.6%).

                                                                                                                                               Extending a yearlong trend, retail towable sales remained flat in May, up 1.2%, and showed a 4.9% gain for the first five months.

According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc., results showed:

• Sales for the high-volume travel trailer sector grew 2.5% for the month and 7.1% year-to-date.

• Fifth-wheel registrations dipped 0.4% in May, but were up 0.9% for the five months.

• Folding camping trailer sales were down 8% for the month and 5.8% through May.

• Recreational park trailer sales fell 18.4% in May and 8.3% for the five months.

Thor Industries Inc. was the towable sales leader through May with a 36.6% market share, edging out Forest River Inc. which captured a 36.4% share. Jayco Inc. was No. 3 with an 11.3% share.

By segment, Forest River was No. 1 in travel trailer sales for the five months with a 37% market share, ahead of Thor (34.2%) and Jayco (13.2%). Thor was No. 1 in fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 49.3% market share, followed by Forest River (31.1%), Jayco (5.5%) and Grand Design RV Co. (5.4%).

Forest River was the folding camping trailer sales leader year-to-date with a 64.6% market share while Jayco (13.5%) held the No. 2 position followed by Columbia Northwest/Aliner Inc. (11.1%). In the park model segment, Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. was No. 1 with a 15.1% share, followed by Skyline Corp. (13.2%) and Thor (13%).

According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc., results showed:

• Sales for the high-volume travel trailer sector grew 4.5% for the month and 6.3% year-to-date.

• Fifth-wheel registrations declined 4.9% for February and 6.2% for the two months.

• Folding camping trailer sales were down 14.2% for the month and 12.1% through February.

• Recreational park trailer sales fell 6.5% in February, but edged up 1.1% for the two months.

Forest River Inc. was the towable sales leader through February with a 34.8% market share, edging out Thor Industries Inc., which posted a 34% share. Jayco Inc. was No. 3 with a 10% share.

By segment, Forest River was No. 1 in year-to-date travel trailer sales with a 35.4% share, ahead of Thor (30.1%) and Jayco (12.3%). Thor was No. 1 in fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 48.5% market share, followed by Forest River (30.7%), Grand Design RV Co. (5.2%) and Jayco (4.7%).

Forest River was the folding camping trailer sales leader for the two months with a 68% market share while Columbia Northwest/Aliner Inc. (12.2%) held the No. 2 position followed by Jayco (9.1%). In the park model segment, Skyline Corp. was No. 1 with a 13.1% share, while Thor and Champion Home Builders tied for second with a 12.6% share. Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. was third, capturing an 11.5% share.

SSI: Towable Sales Edge Down 1.6% in January

Year-over-year retail towable registrations edged down 1.6% in January, perhaps reflecting the severe winter weather that has affected retail shows and manufacturers’ production schedules.

According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc., results showed:

• Sales for the high-volume travel trailer sector grew 4.1% in January.

• Fifth-wheel registrations declined 12.5% for the month.

• Folding camping trailer sales were down 16.1% in January.

• Recreational park trailer sales were up 2.1% for the month.

Thor Industries Inc. was the towable sales leader for the month with a 33.6% market share, edging out Forest River Inc. (33.3%). Jayco Inc. was No. 3 with a 9.8% share.

By segment, Forest River was No. 1 in January travel trailer sales with a 34% share, ahead of Thor (29%) and Jayco (12%). Thor held a commanding lead in fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 49.7% market share, followed by Forest River with a 29.1% share. Grand Design RV Co. and Jayco were tied for the third spot, capturing a 4.8% share.

Forest River was the folding camping trailer sales leader for the month with a 66.9% market share while Columbia Northwest/Aliner Inc. (13%) held the No. 2 position followed by Jayco (9.6%). In the park model segment, Champion/Athens Park Homes was No. 1, posting a 14.3% market share. Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. and Skyline Corp. tied for No. 2 with a 12.2% share followed by Chariot Eagle Inc. (9.2%).

SSI: Towables Rise 8.5% in Dec.; 15.7% for 2013

With all categories except folding camping trailers showing year-over-year growth in December, towable sales posted an 8.5% increase for the month and a 15.7% gain for the full year.

According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc., Thor Industries Inc. stood as the towable sales leader for 2013 with a 35.9% market share, edging out Forest River Inc. (34.8%). Jayco Inc. earned the No. 3 spot with an 11.4% share. As previously reported, Forest River was No. 1 in motorhome sales for the year, garnering a 25.1% market share.

Category results showed:

• Sales for the high-volume travel trailer sector grew 6.6% in December and 16.9% for the 12 months.

• Fifth-wheel registrations rose 14.9% for the month and 16.4% for the full year.

• Folding camping trailer sales were down 12.8% in December and 0.3% year-to-date.

• Recreational park trailer sales gained 5.3% for the month but fell 8.8% for 2013.

• Sales for the high-volume travel trailer sector grew 14.8% in November and 16.9% for the 11 months.

• Fifth-wheel registrations rose 12% for the month and 15.9% year-to-date.

• Folding camping trailer sales were down 4.2% in November and 0.3% year-to-date.

• Recreational park trailer sales decreased 27.3% for the month and 11.9% year-to-date.

Thor Industries Inc. was the towable sales leader through November with a 35.9% market share, followed by Forest River Inc. at 22.3% and Jayco Inc. with an 11.5% share. The Forest River Group, which includes the company’s towable building divisions in a “consolidated” report by Statistical Surveys, earned a 34.9% share for the 11 months.

By segment, Thor was No. 1 in travel trailer sales with a 32.7% share for the first 11 months, ahead of Forest River (22.6%) and Jayco (13.3%). Thor held a commanding lead in fifth-wheel sales, capturing a 51.1% market share, while Forest River posted an 18.5% share and Forest River’s Palomino RV division held a 6.2% share.

Forest River was the folding camping trailer sales leader for the 11 months with a 44.3% market share while Jayco (16.8%) held the No. 2 position followed by Forest River’s Coachmen RV division (14.6%). In the park model segment, Thor was No. 1, posting a 20.7% market share, followed by Kropf Manufacturing Co. Inc. (13.1%) and Skyline Corp. (8.8%).

Results showed:

• Sales for the high-volume travel trailer sector grew 14.6% in September and 16.1% for the nine months.

• Fifth-wheel registrations rose 16.2% for the month and 15.4% year-to-date.

• Folding camping trailer sales were up 4.3% in September, but dipped 0.7% year-to-date.

• Recreational park trailer sales decreased 30.6% for the month and 11.4% year-to-date.

Year-over-year retail towable sales gained 21.5% in July while registrations for the first seven months showed a 13.6% increase. Every towable segment was up for the month while all but folding camping trailers recorded double-digit growth.

According to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc., results showed:

• Sales for the high-volume travel trailer sector grew 24.2% in July and 15% for the seven months.

• Fifth-wheel registrations rose 16.8% for the month and 14.1% year-to-date.

• Folding camping trailer sales were up 4.4% in July, but dipped 2.2% year-to-date.

• Recreational park trailer sales increased 32% for the month, but were down 9.6% year-to-date.

Lazydays Sees Sharp Increase in Towable Sales

During the first quarter, Seffner, Fla.-based Lazydays achieved a year-over-year towable unit sales increase of 73%, according to Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI) point of sales data.

“We were able to achieve this success through great people, great brands and great commitment,” Jim Lazzarino, Lazydays towable sales manager, said in a press release.

In May of 2012, Lazydays launched a companywide initiative that focused on travel trailer and fifth-wheel products.
