Intent on growing sales in the high-volume entry-level travel trailer segment, Heartland Recreational Vehicles LLC has bolstered its Trail Runner lineup with all-new floorplans and the industry’s first full-body paint look exterior in a traditional aluminum-and-wood trailer.

“Over the last three years, we have positioned Trail Runner as an up-and-coming brand through great dealers, lower weights and aggressive pricing,” said General Manager Nick Eppert, noting in a press release that the new Trail Runner would showcase seven new models during the Sept. 17-19 Elkhart County RV Open House in the company’s display at the RV/MH Hall of Fame. “This year, Trail Runner will again raise the bar with features and floorplans not currently offered at Trail Runner’s aggressive price points.”

Eppert reported that in addition to the upscale exterior appearance, Trail Runner’s interiors have been significantly upgraded with a richer wood grain along with higher-end furniture, window treatments, countertops and flooring.

“Our goal in our entry-level product is to make it the best looking trailer on the market in terms of floorplans and eye appeal,” said Heartland President Chris Hermon. “Nick and his team have done a fantastic job. Everyone builds a competitive stick-and tin, but the difference is in the details and the new Trail Runner is positioned to increase market share and grow sales for our dealer partners.”

Stephen Guidry, president of Dixie RV Super Stores in Hammond, La., and Defuniak Springs, Fla., confirmed the brand’s appeal at the retail level.

“Since picking up the Trail Runner line at Louisville 2011, Dixie RV Super Stores have seen a significant increase in retail sales of our stick-and-tin travel trailer business,” he said. “After getting a sneak peek at the new Trail Runner product, I expect these increases in retail sales to continue.”
