MotorHome Exec Settles in at Winnebago Rally

July 31, 2013 by · Leave a Comment

Bob Livingston looked at a lot of new products during the recently completed Winnebago Itasca Travelers Grand National Rally (GNR) at the builder’s Rally Grounds in Forest City, Iowa.

But, according to a report in the Mason City Globe Gazette, he doesn’t intend to buy any. Instead, his opinions can help potential buyers with decisions about Winnebago products.

“I come out every year to look at new products,” said Livingston, publisher of MotorHome and Trailer Life magazines.

Livingston and his wife, Lynne, stayed in a Winnebago motorhome during the rally held July 21-26.

“I live in it a couple of days before I write notes,” Livingston said during the GNR’s opening ceremony. “I’ll start writing notes tomorrow afternoon or Tuesday. I’ve got to get a feel for it first.”

Livingston said the industry has been more innovative in the past several years as manufacturers “benefit from the use of technology which allows them to add more features and be more creative and cost effective while doing so.”

“The surprising thing as we are seeing jumps in innovations, we are not seeing the prices go up (dramatically),” he added. “Winnebago is right on top with innovations.”

Keystone Montana Earns TL ‘Readers Choice’

December 5, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

(L-R): Bob Livingston, Publisher, Trailer Life; Aram Koltookian, group general manager, Keystone RV; Mike Mack, Montana product manager; and Stuart Bourdon, Editor, Trailer Life

Keystone RV Co.’s Montana fifth-wheel has been selected as the recipient of the first annual Trailer Life Readers’ Choice Award.

Conducted online at TrailerLife.com, the Readers’ Choice Award encouraged thousands of readers to vote in 25 categories among 104 brands for their favorite RV products. Montana is one of Keystone’s most popular brands and has been the top-retailing fifth-wheel over the past 11 years, according to Statistical Surveys Inc. of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Trailer Life Group Publisher Bob Livingston noted that the “typical” reader is a sophisticated buyer, many having previously owned two, three or more RVs. “Our readers know what they like, and what accessories and services enhance their lifestyle,” he said. “Kudos to Montana for earning this demanding group’s endorsement.”

According to Aram Koltookian, Keystone group general manager, Montana has strived to develop close ties with the RV consumer throughout the brand’s 15-year history. “We focus on listening to our customers and continuously improving our product,” states Koltookian. “Many of the features you find in today’s Montana are the result of staying close to the customer. In addition, our emphasis on practical innovation has pushed the brand to the cutting edge of luxury fifth wheel design.”

Trailer Life Debuts ‘How-to’ RV Video Website

May 23, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Trailer Life magazine has announced the launch of its new RVing video website titled TrailerLife.TV.

The new website is in response to the growing demand for video-based RVing video tips and techniques, according to a news release. TrailerLife.TV compliments the publication by providing hands-on demonstrations of some of the most popular RVing topics. Included on the site are original how-to videos on topics including parts and repair, water systems, gas and electric, appliances and maintenance.

“We recognized that RVers are getting more and more of their information from the Internet and there is continued growth in the number of RVing videos on the Internet,” said Steve Hedlund, president of GS Media & Events. “However, much of the video content on the web is low quality or advertisement driven. We saw an opportunity to fill this gap with high-quality, technique driven videos that help RVers make the most of their time on the road.”

Hedlund said that new original video content is continually being created and added to the website so there is fresh video content to be viewed weekly. The video content covers topics for those new to RVing as well as information for seasoned veterans of the road.
