Top TrailManor Dealer Award To David and Kate Unruh, Owners of The Car Show Inc. RV Center, Colorado Springs

TrailManor Inc. announced its Top Dealer Awards, with three dealerships being recognized for outstanding sales and service achievement.

According to a press release, The Car Show Inc. RV Center, Colorado Springs, Colo., was named the top TrailManor dealer for the 17th time in the last 18 years. Owners David and Kate Unruh are longtime camping enthusiasts who bought their own TrailManor, then decided to expand their used car dealership to sell the unique retractable trailer line. Since then, The Car Show Inc. RV center has sold hundreds of TrailManors.

The nation’s No. 2 TrailManor dealer, Custom RV in Ontario, Calif., is a perennial top dealership. Owners Scott Eickhoff and Matt Thacker recently expanded, moving from Anaheim to a much larger facility in Ontario.

Camper Outlet, Tualatin, Ore., was recognized as the nation’s No. 3 TrailManor dealership. Owners Fred Ellers and Don Lee began selling TrailManor eight years ago, and have consistently been one of the top dealers in the country.

TrailManor Bought, New Firm Starts Production

November 21, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

A newly formed company has purchased the assets of TrailManor Inc. and gone into production to revive the lightweight trailer brand.

According to a press release, TrailManor Manufacturing Company LLC was created to ensure that “TrailManor will be here for years to come with quality products, great service and unforgettable camping experiences.”

Bob Eickhoff, a long-time sales representative for TrailManor who formed the new company, noted, “Our new organization makes the TrailManor brand much stronger.”

The company is now producing TrailManor trailers in a Jacksboro, Tenn., plant, located near Knoxville, with plans in 2012 to open an additional manufacturing facility in Hartington, Neb. The company’s general offices will be located in Hartington.

Eickhoff noted that several positive changes have been made under the new company to support TrailManor owners and dealers. He said that instead of having parts centralized at the TrailManor plant, there will be dealer locations across the country that will stock parts, speeding access to needed components. TrailManor is also rolling out the Sport line of smaller, value-priced trailers, which features units ranging from 16 to 24 feet.

Eickhoff said that he thanked dealers and owners for the patience they have shown during the transition, which began in September.

“We are very fortunate to have dealerships and TrailManor enthusiasts who have cheered us on, and we look forward to bringing them exciting new products,” he said.

TrailManor Inc. Adding Two Floorplan Options

April 6, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

TrailManor Inc. is giving its dealers more marketing options with two new floorplans that incorporate dinettes into the company’s folding and upright trailers.

TrailManor is now offering a 3124King Dinette folding trailer and an Elkmont 24 Dinette upright model, according to a news release.

In the 3124 King, the dinette replaces the sleep sofa in the slide out living area. The dinette comfortably seats four, and provides dining and a highly functional table that can be used as a computer workspace or for any number of other activities. The 3124 floorplan also features a king bed, large kitchen area, and plenty of storage. The kitchen sink and refrigerator countertop are now straight and open up even more living area.

TrailManor has also introduced an electric front slide out option for the 3124King models.

In the Elkmont 24, the four-person dinette is an alternative to the wraparound dinette area. The new dinette features seat cushions with rounded edges for a softer, more comfortable styling. The rounded edges add sophistication to the interior design, and they also make it easier to get in and out of the bench seat.

Both floorplans are now available through special order.

Since 1983, TrailManor has been manufacturing unique lightweight travel trailers. In 2009, the company introduced its first upright travel trailer, the Elkmont, a 24-foot trailer that is 1,500 pound lighter than similar competitive models, and has subsequently rolled out three additional upright trailers—a 26-foot Elkmont, and 24-foot Elkmont Bunkhouse (the world’s lightest bunkhouse trailer), and a new 22-foot Elkmont.

TrailManor also produces a line of hardwall folding trailers that provide the easy towing of a pop up with the amenities of upright trailers, such as a hardwall bathroom with tub, a complete kitchen, and floorplans ranging from 26 to 31 feet.

TrailManor Vet Eickhoff’s Now Full-Time CEO

TrailManor logoThe board of directors of TrailManor Inc. has elected Bob Eickhoff as CEO. He takes over the position from Mike Garrison, who had been serving as interim CEO, according to a news release.

Eickhoff has worked with Lake City, Tenn.-based TrailManor for 16 years, serving as a regional sales manager and, most recently, as director of international sales. He will now take on responsibility for growing the 27-year-old company, which is recognized both for its lightweight trailers and its innovative marketing efforts.

“TrailManor offers new ideas for RV dealers,” Eickhoff said. “Our products appeal to a spectrum of buyers, ranging from long-term enthusiasts to people entering the market. And for dealers, our products provide the opportunity to offer something different — often with higher margins than what they’ve come to expect.”

Eickhoff noted that TrailManor has recently secured additional investment funds, giving the company some additional flexibility in moving forward.

“We have worked with dealers to make product and operations changes that will give us more efficiency and quality,” he said. “Our intention is to set a new standard for the best-made trailer in the country. And we’re in a position to aggressively work with both existing and new dealers this fall to make sure they get maximum value from the upcoming show seasons.

“The new TrailManor is really something to see.”

TrailManor Inc.’s Elkmont line of super-lightweight upright trailers has been expanded to three models, with the introduction of the all new Elkmont 22.

The 22-foot trailer offers a more compact version of the Elkmont 26 floorplan, without the sofa and bedroom wall. There’s a walk-around, queen-size bed, a full-sized dinette, marble-look countertops and woodgrain floors, according to a news release.

The Elkmont 22 has a base dry weight of just 2,348 pounds. With TrailManor’s Value Package plus awning, AC, alloy wheels, and electric tongue jack, the trailer is still a svelte 2,850 lbs., which means it can be easily towed with most popular minivans, crossovers and SUVs.

Appliances include a full-sized refrigerator, three-burner stove, and microwave. Custom upholstery, maple cabinets, and custom lighting and window treatments add to the elegance. The Elkmont 22 also features a high definition TV that swivels for viewing, and a bathroom that includes a tub and shower, plus a conventional toilet.

“The Elkmont 22 was created based on dealer requests for a highly-attractive ‘step up’ line of trailers,” said Keith Hulsey, TrailManor vice president of sales and marketing. “Now we have 22-, 24-, and 26-foot models, with features that give dealers the flexibility to guide customers to the ideal trailer for their desires.”

Since introducing its first upright travel trailer, the 24-foot Elkmont in late 2008, TrailManor has seen solid sales in the new category. The company also offers the Elkmont 24 in a bunkhouse floorplan, making it the lightest bunkhouse trailer in the marketplace, and the Elkmont 26, a tandem-axle trailer with a sofa and private bedroom.

TrailManor Inc. Introduces 26-Foot Elkmont

TrailManor's new 26-foot Elkmont

TrailManor's new 26-foot Elkmont

Since introducing its first upright travel trailer, the 24-foot Elkmont, a year and a half ago, TrailManor Inc., Lake City, Tenn., has seen solid sales in the new category. Now the company is expanding its offering with a new 26-foot super-lightweight upright trailer, according to a news release.

According to Keith Hulsey, vice president of sales and marketing, the all-new Elkmont 26 has “the features many of our RV shoppers have been asking for, including a private bedroom, tandem axles, a sofa, and a dinette.” Like the original 24-foot Elkmont, there’s a walk around bed, marble-look countertops, and woodgrain floors. Appliances include a full-sized refrigerator, three-burner stove and microwave.

Custom upholstery, maple cabinets and custom lighting and window treatments add to the elegance.

The Elkmont 26 features a wall-mounted high definition TV for the bedroom (and an optional second HDTV for the living room). The bathroom includes a tub and shower, plus a conventional toilet.

Thanks to TrailManor’s innovative construction techniques, the Elkmont 26 tips the scales at a base dry weight of just 2,918 lbs (3,420 lbs equipped with TrailManor’s value package, plus alloy wheels, awning, air conditioning and electric tongue jack.) TrailManor’s panelized construction accomplishes this without sacrificing strength.

“It’s a tremendous addition to our lineup of the world’s lightest 24- (and now 26-) foot upright trailers,” Hulsey said.

Hulsey noted that the Elkmont 26 went into production at the first of April.

The Elkmont Yields 22% of TrailManor’s Sales

February 16, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Sales of upright travel trailers now constitute 22% of revenue for TrailManor.

Thanks to the Elkmont's success, sales of upright travel trailers now constitute 22% of revenue for TrailManor Inc., Lake City, Tenn.

For 25 years, TrailManor Inc. concentrated strictly on building folding hardwall travel trailers using its unique lightweight construction techniques.

Last year, the Lake City, Tenn.-based company discovered that not only could it transfer its technology to upright trailer design, but there was a big market for it, according to a news release.

In October of 2008, TrailManor introduced the Elkmont, a 24-foot upright trailer that is 1,500 pounds lighter than similar competitive models. TrailManor accomplished this by using its panelized construction techniques and weight-shaving ideas developed over the previous quarter-century of building its folding models. Even as the Great Recession came crashing down on the RV industry, the Elkmont still generated plenty of buzz — and quickly growing sales. In fact, the company reports that upright trailer sales now account for 22% of its sales.

“We had been asked many times to build an upright trailer,” said Keith Hulsey, vice president of sales and marketing for TrailManor. “And last year, we decided to move forward with it. Even with the recession, it’s been a remarkable success.” TrailManor now offers three floorplans for the Elkmont, including a new bunkhouse model that’s billed as the world’s lightest bunkhouse trailer.

The extreme light weight of the Elkmont means that it can be towed with smaller tow vehicles, including smaller SUVs, minivans and crossovers. Suddenly, RV enthusiasts who wanted a bigger trailer but didn’t want to invest in a bigger tow vehicle had an option.

“That was always our selling point with the folding trailers,” Hulsey said. “People wanted something they could tow with a small vehicle that gave them the room and amenities they needed for a good camping experience. With the Elkmont, people see that they’re getting a lot for their money.

And Hulsey said the Elkmont has benefitted folding trailer sales as well.

“Dealers who didn’t think about TrailManor before have come to talk to us about the Elkmont and then thought, ‘if this trailer is 22% of sales, then I can tap into the other 78% if I take on the folding line.’ We’re adding dealers for both products.”
