Villa International has acquired the intellectual property and inventory of Kustom Fit of South Gate, Calif., a manufacturer of seating products for the recreational vehicle, transportation and office furniture markets.
Villa expects to sell products under the Villa and Kustom Fit names.
“The acquisition of the Kustom Fit assets allows us to serve new customers in the more moderately priced market segments,” said Andy Greenthal, Villa president. “Kustom Fit’s focus on design and manufacturing will help the entire organization gain in efficiency. Consistent with our strategy at Villa, Kustom Fit’s mission will be to provide the best products and support them with unparalleled customer service.”
Robert Long, Villa’s vice president of sales, said, “As we combine our teams, we are excited about the opportunity to broaden our product and customer offerings. We intend to bring some of Villa’s creativity to Kustom Fit’s customers and market segments and hope to gain from their production capabilities.”
Kustom Fit has been a quality approved supplier to Ford Motor Co., Chrysler, General Motors, Nissan Motors, Toyota Motor Co., American Suzuki, Isuzu Motors America, Hyundai, and AM General (Hummer).
In the RV market, they have been an OEM supplier to Fleetwood Enterprises Inc., Coachmen Industries Inc., Rexhall Industries Inc., Thor Industries Inc., Airstream Inc., Winnebago Industries Inc., Country Coach Inc., Skyline Corp., Eclipse, R-Vision Inc., Forest River Inc.and Monaco Coach Corp.
In the heavy truck market, Kustom Fit has been an OEM supplier to Kenworth and Freightliner Corp.
Ron Belk, former president of Kustom Fit, will join the Villa team and work developing the Kustom Fit division. Many of Kustom Fit’s former employees have also accepted employment with the company. Manufacturing of the Kustom Fit product lines will remain at the South Gate location and eventually be consolidated into Villa’s Cerritos, Calif., and Elkhart , Ind., facilities.
