Iron Colt (ic-37) by Foretravel, Spartan Chassis
Foretravel Motorcoach, a Nacogdoches, Texas-based manufacturer of luxury motorhomes, and Spartan Motors Inc., parent to Spartan Chassis Inc., Charlotte, Mich., have introduced the Foretravel Iron Colt (ic-37), a 37-foot Class A diesel RV that officials said is designed to fill a gap in the marketplace.
“We just felt like there was a demand there in the marketplace for people that want to downsize as well as people who want to introduce themselves into the RV industry, who wanted a high-quality, manufactured motorhome,” said Tyle Fore, Foretravel’s director of marketing and factory coach specialist, adding the ic-37 MSRP will land “somewhere between $550,000 and $575,000, depending on options” — which is about two-thirds the retail cost of Foretravel’s previous lowest-price unit, the $1.5 million ih-45.
Foretravel designed the ic-37 to be smaller in length and shorter in height, yet its 450 horsepower Cummins L450 engine, paired with an Allison 3000 transmission, offers a 10,000-pound towing capacity and enough power to transport a 150-gallon fuel tank, 122-gallon freshwater tank, and 130-gallon combined gray and black tank.
Likewise, although shorter in length, the ic-37 maintains the same luxury and craftsmanship standards of Foretravel's larger footprint models. Unlike Foretravel’s highly custom Iron Horse lines, the ic-37 is a full production unit. The model debuted with three floorplans, with five more configurations planned.
The ic-37 is built atop Spartan's K2 450 chassis and features Spartan Motors' industry-leading Safe Haul integrated tow braking system and Connected Coach, a technology bundle that includes a digital dash display of the coach's instrument panel cluster and navigation components in a single, easy-to-read format. Additionally, the ic-37 includes fuel level and DEF level gauges, and keyless start technology.
Steve Guillaume, president of Spartan Specialty Vehicles, said the company is pleased to partner with Foretravel on the ic-37, noting there’s a definite trend for shorter Class A motorhomes that still offer all the refinements of 45-footers.
“This is for customers who want all the luxuries in a high-end motorhome, but want the little tighter package to have a little better maneuverability,” Guillaume said. “We basically have all of the luxurious options from a chassis perspective that you have on the 45-footers, like the 15-inch digital dash, collision mitigation system, push-button start — all of the integrated features that we have on the high-end coach, just in the smaller package. It's just an exciting new product offering for us for Foretravel.”
