Galbreath, who is the lead service tech at the D&N RV Service in Guntersville, Ala., told RVBUSINESS.com on stage after being presented with the Tech Champion’s cup trophy, “Most of the tests were fairly common that we see around the shop. But it’s way different mainly because of the time limit.”

Galbreath said that part of the $10,000 reward will go to helping him promote the RV Technical Institute’s cause by traveling and spreading the news to a new generation of RV techs.

“Last year we worked with the RVTI to help them set up new training programs,” he said. “And this year we expect to do more of the same to give back to our industry.

“To those out there that want to become a technician I would say go for it,” Galbreath added. “The sky is the limit. Opportunities are available to those who want to work for it. I want to say thank you to everyone for all they do to create this very special event.”

Runners-up for the event included John Larson, owner/operator at Nevada Mobile RV Service taking second place and Aaron Bashore, shop foreman and lead tech at Tom Schaeffers Camping and Travel Center in Shoemakersville, Pa.,coming in a close third.

The event pits some of the best RV service techs from across the country against each other in a winner-take-all, live competition. Held in the ballroom of the Salt Palace Convention Center with a crowd of over 300 onlookers, six techs diagnosed RV service within a time frame of 15 minutes per station. The competition highlights the industrywide skills for sought-after technicians to help support new training initiatives.

The Top Tech Challenge is designed by RVTI to elevate the prestige of service technicians nationwide, increase the quality of service available to consumers, and raise awareness to attract more talent to the field.
