RVX Experience Gets Underway in Salt Lake City (3/13/2019)

With a jam-packed first day highlighted by the Reveal, which theatrically recognized the “latest and greatest” units RV manufacturers had to offer, the inaugural RVX: The RV Experience show got underway yesterday (March 12) at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah — and immediately served notice that this isn’t your father’s “Louisville Show.” (To view a video from RVX scroll down to the “Industry Videos” section. RVX essentially supplants the National RV Trade Show, which had taken place in Louisville for more than 50 years but was discontinued in early 2018. In its place, the RV Industry Association (RVIA) developed RVX as a “completely reimagined” trade-only event.

Saying a “great industry should have a showcase event,” RVIA President Frank Hugelmeyer opened the Reveal by explaining what RVX means for the industry.

“With the launch of RVX, we now have an event that readies us for the future, excites ready-to-buy nine consumer segments, and presents an inspiring RV lifestyle to consumers all over the world,” Hugelmeyer said.

“Each year it is our goal to each out from RVX to those 40 million Americans thinking about the outdoors and showcase how RVs meet their needs. If we embrace new ways to build, market and service our products, if we support our customers at every turn, if we innovate and excite and attract new customers to our diverse outdoor lifestyles, the future of the RV industry remains very, very bright,” he added.

Every aspect of RVX was engineered, Hugelmeyer continued, with the goal in mind to provide tools to dealers and manufacturers that will help continue to expand the RV market and appeal to future RVers.

RVX is also the first event in Go RVing’s nationwide “Kick off to Camping Season” campaign, an unprecedented multimillion-dollar media campaign, conceived to build consumer awareness throughout the high season while driving new customers to dealerships throughout the country.

Including a full day of the Industry Showcase, RVX continues today with a “Sobel University” seminar on improving sales performance, a full day of Tech Academy supplier component training presented by the RV Technical Institute, and a presentation by Kampgrounds of American Inc. (KOA) President Toby O’Rourke on “Outdoor Experiences and Your New Customer.”

In addition, Wednesday’s RVX events include RV Learning Center dealer education breakouts presented by the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA), and PowerTalk Patio dealer marketing and branding sessions.

Also, a slate of speakers are on the docket including Rudy Reuttiger, the former Notre Dame University football player whose story about overcoming seemingly insurmountable odds was made famous in a blockbuster movie. Today will culminate with the RV Technical Institute Top Tech Challenge Championship.

RVX will end its three-day run tomorrow, finishing with the RV Industry Awards that evening.
